Doctors Visit!

Hello Everyone! 

This week has been a bit busy. We had transfers today and my companion got transferred. I will be training a new sister who will arrive tomorrow in the field! Wahooooooo, training again!! Who knows if I will receive a Brazilian or American or Hispanic???? No one knows. Haah, wish me luck! 

This week I got really sick on Friday and stayed in bed all day. As a missionary it is really not fun to stay in your house all day long. I felt bad for my companion who organized all her things and re-organized her stuff. I slept pretty much all day long. My companion told me I needed to go to the hospital (just a side note here in Brazil they go to the hospital for literally EVERYTHING!) I being afraid of the hospital, doctor, or anything like that didn’t want to go because I knew what I had would pass. My companion forced me to go to the doctors and so we went on Saturday and turns out—I was right. It was nothing. I felt really embarrassed. 

I’m excited to see what this transfer brings. We have lots of potential baptisms this transfer.

One Year!!!

Bom Dia!!

Hello everyone!! This past week was rain, rain, rain, and I mean rain. I don’t know how they don’t have floods here. Also it is very hot here. I feel like a burnt tomato ahhah.

This week we worked really hard to get our investigators to come to church with us. On Saturday night we had an incredible lesson with some members that we brought along. We talked about the plan of salvation and about baptism for the dead. Our investigator, Roselaine, loved it so much. She is a single mother with 3 daughters. Her first husband died from using drugs and her next husband (that she is married to right now) is using drugs and so she is working and taking care of everything. Her daughter’s husband got assasinated. This family has gone through so much that I can’t even imagine. It is so great to teach and to let people know that through the Savior and through the plan that our Heavenly Father has there is hope. Everyone was crying in the lesson. The members offered her a ride to church the next day and they came to church. I was soooo happy because these past couple weeks have been hard for us to bring people to church. I know the Lord was helping us this week. We did all we could and He did the rest. 

This week I hit 1 year on the mission. I can’t believe one year has gone by already. I am blown away. Only 6 months left. I can’t even explain how I feel right now. My mission is passing by so fast. I know I say this every single week but it is so true. Seems like every single day is passing by faster and faster. Before I know it I’ll be home. I love every single part of my mission. It is hard and amazing and difficult and so worth it. I felt a happiness this past week that I have never felt before. Helping people understand about the restored gospel and about the plan that God has for everyone of us is so rewarding. I think I felt a little bit of eternal happiness that we will all have after this life-- living with our Heavenly Father and our eternal families.

Light to a Homeless Man

Hello Everyone!

These past weeks have been very busy--doing the Lord’s work. (I LOVE IT!!) We have been having a hard time bringing people to church with us. We have been fasting and paying our fast offerings. We are doing everything we can. We teach the doctrine of Christ and show our love for all these people. I have so much love for our investigators--especially our investigator, Samara. She is the best. She is 19 years old and wants to serve a mission. She knows everything about the gospel is true but she is scared of being baptized. My companion and I are doing everything we can to help her. She said she had a dream the other day about doing the work of her grandparents who passed away in the temple. She is so prepared and needs to know that she needs the Holy Spirit to help her have more knowledge. On Friday night a friend of Samara’s who got baptized a year ago got his mission call to serve in Peru, Lima north mission and leaves March 28th. Samara got to watch and I hope this experience helped her feel the need to be baptized. It is amazing the love I feel for all our investigators. I love each and every one of them so much. I never knew I would love these people here so much.

I had a chance to give a talk in my ward where I am serving yesterday about being a light to the world. I shared an experience I had about being a light that I would like to share with all of you. 

In my other area, my companion and I were walking in the street. We passed by a man who was living on the street. He didn’t have many things. He was sitting alone and looked a little bit sad. I looked across the street and saw a guy who had just finished eating lunch. In his hands he had a sandwich and a soda. I noticed that he crossed the street and asked the homeless man if he had eaten lunch that day. The man said no. The guy then gave him the sandwich and soda and sat down with him to be with him while he ate. This experience I had touched my heart. I could tell that the homeless man saw a little bit more light in his life that day. The guy, who I think looked about 19 or 20 years old, did a small gesture but that gesture meant the world for that homeless man. This experience makes me want to be more of a light in the lives of others. I encourage you all to be a light in someone’s life this week!!

HAPPY 2018!!!

Hello Everyone!!

Happy New Year to you all!! This New Year celebration was great. We watched the fireworks from our window. Our window in our bedroom has a view that looks over the whole city. There were so many fireworks here it was way hard to sleep.

This past week we found some incredible people to teach. Our investigator Silvia we found contacting in the street. We taught her about the plan of salvation and she loved it so much. She recently lost her mother. She is the best. I love you all.
