OLAAAA MEU POVO! (my people)

This week has been a good week. Not much has happened. It has been a week full of work again.... surprise!! ahah. This week the weather here has been crazy. It has been raining every single day and freezing cold and also burning hot. I don’t really understand the weather here.

Well this past week we encountered a woman named Jane. We have been teaching her and she has been accepting everything we teach her. She has a problem with smoking but she has a desire to stop. We are trying everything we can to help her. The light in her eyes is so amazing when we teach her about the gospel. She is looking for the right religion and it’s her lucky day because she found it!!

Our other investigator is Viviane. We found out isn’t married to her husband legally. This is our next step now--to marry her. Good thing she and her husband have a desire to get married. Their whole family went to church with us yesterday and it was amazing to see an entire family there!!—a dream come true for a missionary.

Leonardo is preparing to be baptized this Saturday. I hope everything will go well for him. Sister Oliveira and I are soo excited for him. He is very excited as well.

Time is flying by people--half way done with the mission. TIme is passing by faster then I can even imagine!!

UNTIL NEXT WEEK
Amo vocĂȘs!

Happy October everyoneee!! Wow time is flying by!! This weeeek has beeen great!! To start off this email, we marked 2 baptismal dates with our investigators!! I am soooo excited it’s been a long time coming with them but we finally marked a date. Wahooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! We marked dates with our investigators Jimmy and Leonardo. They are both at the age when they can serve a mission. I hope with all my heart that they will get to serve missions and help others come unto Christ.

Funny storyyy everyone! So on Sunday my companion and I missed Sacrament meeting. Let me tell you why! In the United States we have a thing called Daylight Savings right?? Well here in good old Brasil they have daylight savings as well. The time jumped forward here--one hour forward. Well the time moved forward at 12 am Sunday morning when we were sleeping, but NO ONE BOTHERED TO TELL US!! We woke up on Sunday morning thinking it was the same old time, getting ready for church and leaving our house early to pick up our investigators for church. Our church starts at 9:30 am. I had planned to leave the house at 9:00 to pick up our investigators and arrive at church early. Nooo rus--I was feeling good. Anyways, 8:55 roles around and a member called us...."SISTERS WHERE ARE YOU?? YOU ARE MISSING SACRAMENT MEETING!!!" My companion was talking with this member and my companion thought she was joking with us, but she wasn’t. I have never gotten ready so fast in my entire life. The phone that we have is from the time period of ADAM AND EVE and doesn’t move the time ahead because we don’t have Internet. I have never felt so sad to miss sacrament meeting and we didn’t get the opportunity to pick up our investigators. We arrived in church practically running into sacrament meeting hoping we hadn’t missed the entire thing. We got to listen to one hymn and one talk. At least we caught some of it.

From my email last we I sent some pictures with my feet that looked like I have a disease. It rained really hard one day and we were walking in the street and the color of my shoes bled on my feet. Also yes those are tan lines on my feet. The mission does wonders to our feet:)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I loveeee you alllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll I hope you have a great weeeeeeeeeeeeeeekkk!!!

Love,
Sister Erickson!!

Trainer!

What a week right??? A lot of things happened this week. First off, I got a new companion!!! Her name is Sister Oliveira. She is from the northeast part of Brasil by Salvador. She just arrived in the field. She is fresh off the plane haha. I am excited to work with her. I have already learned so much. She came really prepared. When we teach she teaches with power. We are already really close. It is amazing how fast we become close. Feels like I have known her for a long time now.

Gustavo our recent convert went to the temple on Friday to do baptisms for the dead. I am so happy for him. He seems so happy. I can see the light in his eyes and he is growing so much. The gospel changes lives! We are now working with his mom so she can be baptized as well. Pray for her so their family can be eternal!!!

We marked a baptismal date with another one of our investigators--Leo for the 14th of October. We asked him to pray about the Book of Mormon and really know if it is true. He came and watched a session of general conference with us. Pray for him as well so that he can be baptized!!

I don’t have much time to email but I love you all and thank you for the support and letters and packages!!!

Love,
Sister Erickson
